Please please remember to ask questions! You are also interviewing them! Have some questions prepared to ask not like "how much do you pay?"or very obvious questions you already know the answer to. Have at least 5 questions you'd like to ask them like on the notes app on your phone. You want to make sure you want to work there! You can search on Google for more questions but a few I always make sure I ask for any job interview are: Why is this position available? What are you looking for in an esthetician and what is something new you'd like them to bring to the team? How do you describe a successful esthetician in your bussiness? What is the biggest challenge I would face in this position? What is the work ambiance like? Are there frequent conflicts between staff? (A lot of esthetics-based jobs tend to have very clicky people with lots of drama, I just like to avoid them lol) what is the most important thing I should accomplish in the first 3 months? How will my work be assessed? ( some places like to have a meeting with you every 3 months to review your work, and give feedback if you're having trouble with a certain service you can ask them for more training then as well) You can also ask if it's like spa business or more treatment-based place. Questions such as: How do they like to stay up to date with trends or popular services? And what kind of research goes I to products and services they bring to the business.( some places have scammy reps that sell fake products or technologies. So if they're like we just found the machine on Amazon you run lol... not trying to scare you but the things I've heard omg 🥴) How they train their estheticians in product knowledge, facial machines etc... ( some places might want to train you in other services you have not been trained in yet wich is a bonus because you'll get more certifications! Also, ask if you'd have to pay for it. I've had to pay for some but most of them my boss payed herself)

Sorry for the long post but wish you luck on your interview!!💕💕

We have slowed down tremendously over the last few months. All I can think is inflation. People are having to choose between buying groceries and gasoline or treating themselves. I've talked to hair stylist and nail techs. They say the same thing. They have slowed down tremendously.

It makes me so nervous for this winter when we usually slow down anyways but seeing 4 clients a day is freaking me out. I usually see 12-15.

Yes for the last year or so it has slowed down so much and in the last few months it has gone from bad to worse:(. A spa in my area already closed its doors and the spa I work at might also close soon, my boss is seriously considering selling the business, unfortunately. I am leaving my spa job at the end of the month, Thankfully I already found a found job in retail management, not esti related but ill have a reliable job now, I just can't continue to stay in the industry with how unreliable it'sbeen and in a place where I don't know if it will stay open until December. Very sad about it but what else can we do :/

  1. Ask an advisor, not Reddit. Answers we give you are not official.

  2. If it's the same as other programs, you get one year without classes before you lose your seat. If you get accepted for winter, you could theoretically not take winter classes and just start in the spring. But again; ask an advisor.

  3. The spring term course selection is only a fraction of what is available in fall and winter. There's a good chance whatever you want to take might not even be offered.

It's super hard to get in contact with an advisor that's why I asked here

Same my boss initially told me I can post occasionally but lately she expects us to be influencer lever and it's honestly supper draining, and it's not something I enjoy or feel comfortable doing. I hate it to be honest has really turned me off from esthetics

Amazon will most likely be your best bet, I tried buying some from my instructor but I easily found something similar on Amazon for cheaper

I tried Amazon but I keep seeing really bad reviews or expensive shitty product looking for better quality stuff than I'd get from Amazon

I find it super weird they even bother teaching us massage no one would ever opt for getting a massage from an esthetician vs trained and specialized massage therapist I Mean...they train for 2 years and have completed hundreds of hours on hand experience and here in Canada insurance covers massage therapist costs. I hated doing massage in school I don't do any massage now either. It's a waste of time an money having to pay for that in esti school

Are you learning massage other than facial massage & hand/arm?

I learned hot stone massage, Swedish massage and reflexology wich was a joke to learn they also had Indian head massage and Aromatherapy wich I did not learn because there was just too much massage in the program and we could opt out of them

Omg I have a client just like that 😫 she's absolutely awful... complains about the water being too cold (it's room temp) when i wipe her brows she'll act like she got thrown into the arctic sea it's absolutely ridiculous but you know I just started to ignore her completely. Whenever she complaints I just don't answer her back at all. She would ask me questions and when I confirm with her she'll also say well you're the professional, just like your client. The last time she came to see me I did the same just ignored her completely besides saying hello when she got there and you know what 😂😂😂 she stopped complaining eventually and started talking about her grandkids and forgot about everything she always complains about. I have no idea why she still goes since it seems she hates everything there but she might just be an old bitter b*tch. Don't let the words of these people get to you, you know your worth as an esthetician and no one has the right to hurt your feelings like that, I say just ignore her I'd she comes back, you can always fire her as a client if you work alone.
