Finally finished watching the show a few days ago and I am truly impressed by the acting performance of the main cast especially Iain de Caestecker (IDC). I have seen many compliments about his acting performance and was wondering what makes his performance so outstanding. Here are some of my thoughts:

  1. Delivery of lines: He is really, really good at the tempo of delivering script lines, especially pauses between the dialogues.

  2. Voice acting: He is really good at expressing emotion via voice. A good example is the “Do something” scene (2x1) where one can literally feels Fitz’s desperation and anger in his screaming. Seriously, I could still hear the scream of agony echoing in my head after the scene ended.

  3. Breathing: It always puzzles me that most characters in the show act pretty calm when encountered dangers or extraordinary circumstances – something that doesn’t feel like a normal human response. In contrast, IDC portray realistic emotions of nervous, frightened, anxious etc into his performance, especially via the art of breathing. Remember the scenes when Fitz was dying (5x22) or when he showed up from the Quantum tunnel (7x12)? Man, I would be freaking out if I have to travel through the quantum tunnel, and you can really feel it via his nervous breathing.

  4. Appearance: This is the interesting part. Most of the time, a good-looking actor can act well for emotional/sad/romantic scene but NOT really the comic relief part. IDC has the appearance (face) that fits well for BOTH emotional/sad/romantic and comic relief roles, and it feels so nature and smooth, e.g in 5x15 when Jemma revealed to Fitz about Deke as their grandson, 6x6 Inescapable.

Note: Sorry for the vocabulary and grammar mistakes as both are never my strength.

So, what are your thoughts on/about IDC's compelling acting skills?

  • r/agentsofshield - Iain de Caestecker as Fitz in Agents of Shield. He truly has some, if not the biggest, standout performances in the MCU. Playing a brain damaged and traumatized Fitz with a seemingly split personality, he feasts on the characters struggles. Incredible Performance

Elizabeth Henstridge is pretty active in Instagram, she is married and since enjoying her life (I'm glad for her) but what about Iain De Caestecker ? His instagram's account seems abandoned https://www.instagram.com/iain_decaestecker/?hl=fr ? Does he has a girlfriend ? What about his career ?

Except Ming-Na who has a career after AoS ?

The problem with TV show is actors has their character in the skin

Brett Dalton deserves better imo
