USDC is being dumped pretty heavily lately and its dominance in the stable coin industry has taken a massive blow. USDC loses $5B market cap in a day. That is 10% being dumped in a day. If this happened to Tether, everyone would make a big deal about it, rightly so. We should also treat USDC with the same scrutiny.

https://i.redd.it/cwajcphza6q91.png

The causes for this massive dump may be because of binance stopping their support for USDC, and also because users have less trust in USDC following the tornado cash debacle. Exchanges like Binance and WazirX are delisting USDC. CZ stated it was to enhance liquidity but it looks more like a strategic move to promote BUSD. The next few weeks should be very interesting for USDC.

I’m on an iPhone. System software and Pera wallet up to date.

It’s possible I could be doing something better, but purchasing FIFA collectibles is not currently a good user experience for an average person.

  1. Connecting to Pera wallet takes several attempts. Usually, after accepting the connection in the wallet and navigating back to the FIFA page, I see “Please wait while we connect you to Pera Wallet...” Forever.

  2. If I can connect my wallet, the purchase button usually just shows me three loading dots. Forever. If I try to refresh the page at this point, it’s back to step 1.

  3. If I am lucky enough to get a purchase button, after I press it, I am often given an error message. Something like “cannot establish payment. Contact support.”

  4. Point 3 happened to me this morning and then several seconds later I received a charge notification from Pera wallet. But where was my pack? Fifa gave me no change in the ui. Eventually, I got an email that linked me to my collectables, pack opened, under the My Collectables tab.

  5. When I can navigate all of this, and then want to buy another pack, I’m forced to reconnect my wallet and start the whole frustrating process from the beginning!

FIFA is a big deal for Algorand. There could be a lot of people interacting with algo for the first time, and this experience should be a showcase for how great it is to transact on the Algorand blockchain. At the moment, I’m my experience, it is the exact opposite.

Update: see below comment. TLDR: most, but not all issues were solved by deleting all walletconnect sessions in the Pera app. Hopefully, managing these extra sessions is something that either Pera or FIFA can do automatically for users in the future.

We all voted to allow us governors to commit Liquidity Pool tokens. This governance cycle is our first opportunity and I have the perfect suggestion for you: the Tinyman USDC/Algo pool. It's one that we all need to convert to/from USDC & Algo at some point. While we are at it, let's get an additional 10% rewards and benefit the Algorand Community at the same time.

Tinyman just extended their USDC/Algo rewards program until December 1st, offering 10% rewards. This seems like the perfect opportunity to try out Liquidity pools, get governance rewards, and 10% extra rewards.
