Surprisingly no. It makes no sense. For now it's console only but hopefully they release it on PC in the future. I'm still on a 970 since I can't find a GPU and have no hope of running it.
Did they mix real footage in with the animation? It looks really weird sometimes, but realistic at other times.
Intro of young Neo sleeping at his desk is fake. Only real footage is at the beginning with old Neo talking. I believe younger Morpheus is real and taken from the scene in the original movie. There's a moment when it switches to animated Neo at 1:39. Close up at 1:52 looks fantastic but you can tell it's not the real old Neo. Neo in the mirror is real. Everything after 2:04 is Unreal Engine 5 running on consoles.
Many moments look photo-realistic. The only things that give it away in some shots are the clothing being a bit too smooth without enough moving wrinkles. In some of the shots Neo looks a bit stiff when walking as well. Trinity looked a bit odd as did young fake Neo. The skin is a bit too clean looking but for something running in real-time it's epic. The environmental detail is insane. Make sure to watch in 1440p or 2160p (4k) if you're display supports it.
This was mostly a tech demo for Unreal Engine 5 and marketing for Matrix Resurrections. I recognized some of the Metahumans released earlier this year in the video as well. Tech seen in the video will appear in games releasing in the next few years.
Welcome to the UE5 uncanny valley.
It's funny how the agents in the game now look much more realistic than the CGI agents in Matrix Reloaded.
That's exactly what I am arguing with my friend right now, can someone prove this premise?
This reminds me of the classic Path of Neo game from 2005. I would love a new-age, open world style Matrix game.
The new Matrix remake will never be the same without Samuel Jackson.
You havin a laugh?
Pick red or blue, motherfucker!
Say what one more god damn time
I would have been so happy if the game had no guns or car chases and was just 5 hours of pontificating about technology and self.
Give me The Matrix as a walking simulator!
Why does the Unreal Engine always have this strange graininess to it?
I believe its caused by their taa but they are probably adding noise effect to this one as well. It's long been complained about by devs but they've never really improved it. It's a shame as it can be quite bad and spoils the look of some stuff. Nvidia dlss does a far better job so they should use that instead.
IMHO, what Ninja Theory is doing with UE5 looks a lot better
Flying around the city is amazing
Is this coming to Switch?
No just Nokia N-Gage
I hope my SNES can handle it
I think I broke it. I caused gridlock traffic on a highway and all the cars are now clipping into walls and other cars lmao.
Side note; this is fucking wild. No despawns, heavy mix of different cars, npc. Even the traffic alignment is scarily human (different stop gaps and positioning). I haven’t been this impressed for a graphics engine since Battlefield Bad Company 2. I CANNOT wait for whats to come.
