You don't hate "country music", you hate "pop country".

Thanks to no-talent ass-clowns like Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, etc.. the genre of "country" puts a terrible taste in most peoples mouths. However, they are all "pop country" artist, and while they are the face of country to the masses, they are far from the heart of it.

Country music is best represented by far better, but lesser known artist like Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, and Whitey Morgan to name a few.

You can hate any genre of music which means someone can hate “real country” too. Personally I have low standards so I’ll listen to anything that isn’t completely repulsive to my ears.

Exactly. Actually OP just reaffirmed that I don’t like country. I like pop country 😅

This sounds like a "super power" that I wish I had. I can't think clearly if I'm listening to music that I dislike.

Hooray for low standards!

Nope I think I hate it all. The slow cousin of real music.

I always liked old stuff like Willie Nelson, Merle haggard, dolly parton, Johnny cash, George Jones, Hank Williams, Kenny Rodgers, Waylon Jennings, etc etc. When people think of country music they instantly think of newer stuff or the last 25 years, but there's been some great talent that came before that or it wouldn't be the trendy cash cow southern people are still milking even today. All forms of music become diluted when you have a million people trying to capitalize on a genre that actual talented people used to become rich. I'm a metalhead but still have a soft spot for some old country.

I always liked Johnny Cash's stuff, but honestly his America series is just excellent all around. I cant really say it's a shame he passed when he did, but I do wish we could have gotten more of that sound. I can't get enough of it

I completely agree. I never liked country music until I had some room mates in college who liked the old stuff. We had some fun making "Country Drinkin' Megamix" CDs, and there was even a small town with barn dances every Saturday night that we'd go to pretty often.

I still can't stand the pop-country that's on the radio. And I think this is what most people who "hate country music" think, so I had to downvote OP for his actually quite popular opinion.

John Prine as well

Patsy Cline is my Christmas music. Grandma would put on an old record and we'd dance around while decorating. I'm a punk but I've always got room for country classics.
