Most dim sum places in San Diego are just meh in comparison to what you can find in OC and LA. Jasmine has been my go-to, and they have a to-go counter if you don't want to wait for a table. Haven't been to Emerald in years but am planning to give them a try soon. Golden Island in Mira Mesa is also pretty decent, though I haven't been since before covid.

La Mesa

Emerald gave up to carts a few years back, and went to a made as you order model. Food is solid, but I miss the carts.

It may only be for dim sum but Emerald has been doing cash only and it’s a pain in the neck

I've heard great things about China Max but looks like I'll have to check out Jasmine for the time being. Thank you

Been to Golden Island in Mira Mesa, it was just “meh” for quality and price. Plus more than half the menu was unavailable.

Wait for China Max to reopen. I like theirs because it reminds me of dim sum from NYC and Hong Kong.

Tasty Noodle House in Convoy is by far my favourite. I grew up in Asia for 19 years and it’s pretty comparable to the food I had there!

Tasty Noodle is great but they don't really serve dim sum beyond a few dumpling dishes. I would be eating there all the time if parking isn't such a pain.

I would suggest Jasmine but I have not been there since the pandemic started.

I really miss dimsum :(

Emerald because you can order everything up front.

I hate that at Jasmine there can be something you’re looking forward to eating but it never comes. So you end up eating some b.s. dish bc you were so hungry.

Emerald is great as long as you don't drive a two door car because hoooo boy that parking lot.

Does anybody remember that place that used to be in the supermarket in Linda vista that did to go? Are there any places like that left?

Yum Cha Cafe I believe it was. Went there once and was not impressed. I believe they are closed?
