Won’t help much with employment but call the hospital you’ll have treatment at and talk to their financial aid office. They should have programs in place for partial to full cost forgiveness for low income people who don’t qualify for medicaid.

I forget these things exist, thank you. I feel like I'm hardly an adult but I have next to no exposure with these institutions

Was this a work related injury? The hospital should have a social worker on staff. Ask to speak to them about your financial situation.

Not work related happened off job

If landscaping is your entire resume, look for a position doing estimates, sales, or design with a landscaping or arborist company. Obviously that’s not ideal, I’m just thinking outside the box for stuff you can do on light duty

Consulting would be a good option for OP. People always need experts.

If you paid into social security, look into ssdi.

I looked into it. Could get a decent amount per month if a qualify but the stipulation is if the injury/illness is projected to last a year or cause death.

Are you SURE you need surgery? As in, is this what the doctor said, or are you just assuming that it does?

I tore my rotator cuff once and ice, rest, and PT got me going again.

That said, talk to your work about what is needed for light duty. Can you be the crew chief, or handle the office work/inventory?

I have to go talk to a surgeon and see what they say. MRI and such. My primary care doctor and I did some tests and all signs are pointing to a serious tear. There's not really light duty at my job. It's basically running mowers and weedeaters all day everyday. Our office is out of state. Def gonna talk to my boss and hopefully she can just like, let me pick up sticks for 8 hours a day. They're pretty cut throat tho, we've already lost one dude for an off the job injury. Ran out of sick time and they let him good. Good ole right to work states.

Did this happen while you were at work? If so, workman's comp should take care of you.

Honestly I don't know why I didn't just pretend I was fine, go into work and "hurt" myself on the job. I just, have an issue with lying. I'm so incredibly bad at it and it makes me feel like scum.

Do you qualify for Medicaid? It doesn't help in this instance but anyone can buy insurance on the exchange.

I didn't qualify last time I tried and I can't enroll until open enrollment comes around. Just tried to enroll via their special case thing but I don't qualify for that either.

What was the reason for not qualifying for Obamacare/ACA? Because it seems like you should have been able to get coverage through that or Medicaid. You might be able to get financial assistance through a hospital system as well.

I was making too much money at the time.
