I was watching a video about a YouTuber who says he received so much hate online that told him to kill himself that he considered going through with it.
I'm a writer (I swear, lol) and the idea got me wondering, if a person had killed themselves and directly blamed certain users, could those users be potentially prosecuted (if they were able to track them down)?
I know of cases where people have been coerced into suicide and the coercer has been prosecuted as a result, but does this extend to online coercion as well?
Landlord isn’t returning security deposit and won’t respond to my texts. He responded after 10 days and said “sorry guys I’ve been wanted with bronchitis. I’ll send it today.” And haven’t heard since. This was on Thursday. He has a habit of not responding and making up excuses when asked to do repairs. I have been asking him for the past two weeks for deposit back and an itemized receipt of deductions. I asked him many times to make various repairs that he never did during my tenancy (the main reason I moved out). The roommate I am in the group chat with moved out prematurely in October 2021 and she has also not received hers. Worry he will charge me for repairs I have evidence of asking him to make.
He also said there was a dump fee for furtnitrue another tenant left during her premature departure too (she had her security deposit returned and that was not deducted). Can I be charged for that?
please let me know if I need to take him to small claims/ if that’s the best course of action. I live in KY.
Ok to use different lawyer for estate dealing with corporate shares and trust than my probate lawyer?
My stepdad passed away suddenly without a Will. Had shares in company and had just setup a trust with multiple holdings.
Mom and I hired a lawyer for probate and estate dealings, but we don't have much confidence in his ability with the corporate law. We've been advised to hire additional council to deal with the trust and shares and I frankly agree at this point. Our estate lawyer didn't even get the initial probate filing paperwork correct and seems disjointed and unfocused.
I read the retainer contract and he's just hired on for the main estate things like land transfer, filing for probate, etc. I'm thinking the corporate side of the share selling and trust handling will be additional to our retainer agreement anyway, so I've been advised by the company lawyer and accountant to seek additional council for the dissemination of shares and trust handling.
It took our lawyer 4 weeks from paying retainer and providing all paperwork required to file for probate (with 0 updates in that timeframe), more than a month of the company council asking for the trust paperwork, numerous follow ups from myself and like I said....botched the original paperwork for probate (legal name of company not used, my name not included anywhere when my mom and I stated from get go that we would have joint executor/administrative status...once they did add my name it was spelled wrong). Oh and we paid retainer 4 weeks before signing retainer agreement??? Weird?
Best to have him take care of the probate stuff and someone who can handle the business dealings separately??? This is a maze of stuff to deal with on top of my actual work, home life, grieving.
I need some legal advice. I’m being accused of sexual assault since over a year ago and I hired on a lawyer who I paid 40000 to who said he would represent me for pre trial. However, throughout this past year he hasn’t done much and it’s looking like it’ll go to jury trial. First thing he said was that I need to pay more money and that I’m in deep trouble. But when I first hired him on he assured me all cases settle during pre trial. When I called him earlier today he didn’t even know who I was and asked me. I’ve called up different lawyers who said they could get a good understanding of the case if I had the police report but I’ve asked my current lawyer for weeks now and he keeps stalling. There’s also very little information about sexual assault cases online.
Should I hire a different lawyer to represent my during jury trial? Or should I just fire him now and switch to a different lawyer to finish up the pre trial and into jury trial. I have no criminal history and I’m in the military and I’m being falsely accused so I have no idea or contacts on how the legal system works. I don’t want to go to prison for something that never happened.
Phoenix, Arizona, Maricopa County Hey guys so big problem and need advice. So this morning my apartment complex towed my car, their reason: my car was parked (in my parking space) but I parked reverse and they couldn’t see my license plates. Problem is I have license plates in their usual spots on both sides, tags are up to date, there’s nothing in the lease agreement that says which direction I should park and I was parked in no way illegally, I have insurance, I make all my car payments, I was parked in my normal parking spot, I never got any kind of notice and their reasoning of course really doesn’t make any sense. Luckily, my car insurance pulled mostly through and I have to pay only $200 to get it back but still. They made me miss work and I don’t have $200 to get my car back right now. I pay almost $2000 in just rent alone. What can I do about this? Are they allowed to do this? Could I possibly get them to knock the $200 off my rent or anything else?
From my understanding, blue laws are basically like laws that forbid you from buying alcohol on Sunday.
I do think if anything it should be considered a violation of the 1st Amendment since the 1st Amendment clearly states congress shall make no law respecting or the establishment of religion. It does seem like one of those crazy laws that we still have that just further proves we are being forced by religious ideas.
