I broke up with my girlfriend because she was disrespectful to a celebrity and she's got all of her friends and some of mine angry at me.

Your ex is awful. How sad to disturb someone grieving like that.

I saw a big celebrity on vacation with his wife once and didn’t want to bother him there, thinking he looked so happy and relaxed and I didn’t want to ruin that. I can’t even imagine the kind of person that would think doing that at a CEMETERY, of all places, was appropriate.

I feel like a certain kind of person feels entitled to celebrities. They don't even see them as actual people, with thoughts and feelings of their own. It's so weird.

Can you imagine seeing someone grieving and feeling entitled to butt in and bother them? It's really creepy.

imagine being so deluded and thinking that GETTING AN AUTOGRAPH AT A CEMETERY is okay.

You did the right thing, she thinks that the world revolves around her

well since it is a place you can leave work related notes, it may mot be too much of a stretch. /s

I know some people who are autograph collectors. They go to cons just to get stuff signed. I think it's fucking weird as hell because they just go on forums and brag about it and talk about the celeb like they suddenly know them from their 5 minutes or less exchange. They have tips on how to "be remembered" and so on.

Like I said it's weird. But my point is NONE of them would bother a celebrity at a cemetery.

Some people think of others as property, objects, things with no feelings. I’ve met a lady in an elevator, we kept the door open for her so she wouldn’t have to wait. She was looking so familiar! I had my little one in my arms and the lady looked at her and was talking so nice, saying how cute the baby is, things like that. At some point i said to her “i am really sorry if i’m being rude, but you look so much like one of the actresses on the soaps and i do apologise but i can’t remember the name.” She said to me “i am one the actresses. Thank you!”. I never asked for an autograph, she never offered, but she was such a decent person, thanking us for not being all over her. She was one of the Emerdale cast, and they were all having a gathering in a restaurant in the shopping centre.

lots of people on reddit probably disagree. there are lots of "rude celebrity posts" and the comments were deluded people who were actually the rude ones.

Fun fact: in the 90s and early 2000s visiting the graveyard was actually an activity teens consistently did in high school and college to hang out and smoke cigarettes or just chill. I remember I was with my mom actually on September 11th 2001 we would chill at the graveyard site and smoke or run around. I think by like 2006 this stuff was not happening anymore. We didn’t even know 9/11 happened until my brother came home from high school lol and he told us. Kids nowadays won’t remember the fun we had at cemeteries

You are right. I saw Ted Kennedy visiting his brother Robert’s (Bobby) grave in Arlington National Cemetery. I walked back to the road and didn’t disturb him. When he was getting in the van with his family he came over to me and shook my hand. There’s a time and place for everything. She and her friends are totally wrong.

That’s a pretty powerful thing to witness.

There is a time and a place. I used to work at the WB lot. Don Cheadle was buying food at the commissary with his kid. I was tempted to go up to him. But then I thought, I shouldn't hound anyone on the lot. They are coming to work just like I am. Someone else approached him while he was paying for his food to say how much he meant to him and whatnot. Don seemed to get little irritated and said he was there with his daughter.

Edit: for some clarity.

Pretty sure JFK and Jackie are buried there as well.

To be fair, her friends most likely don't know what actually happened. She probably told them something along the lines of "we saw my favorite celebrity and op wouldn't let me ask them for an autograph" or something similar so no blame is actually on them. I doubt she even mentioned they were in a cemetery.
