I’m going to assume this includes trial participants? Because of this sentence: “more than 2,300 people have been fully vaccinated”. I don’t think this vaccine has been around in the US long enough for non-trial participants to have been fully vaccinated, right?

I believe the US/Mexico trial had a combined 30k participants. Also I am personally weary of anything Reuters, seeking alpha, and politico put out into the world regarding novavax as they seem to always put questionable hit pieces out right before approval benchmarks, or earnings calls which is this coming Monday for Novavax— Reuters and politico have Pfizer board members on their board/ ownership just fyi.

I think it’s possible that some of those people were contraindicated to mRNA but had 1 of the 2 doses of their primary series. The CDC allows the second shot to be Nova in that situation.

If this is accurate, that's not bad given how difficult it has been to find any shots in many locations.

meh this is kind of disappointing, 7,300 doses is nothing, even if we say doses have only been available for a week that's 1,000 doses a day. that's nothing at all. was hoping at least a million shots would go into arms in the USA

Reuters chairman is on the board of Pfizer. Reuters regularly prints weird stuff about novavax that is either not true or very confusing (ie 2300 fully vaccinated) -- they also do not say "as of this date" it's just not worth reading anything from them anymore. With earnings report on monday, this was predictable -- but way better than what they usually run.

It just became more available this week and pretty much unadvertised. 7300 is the amount of people willing to drive 2 hrs away from home to find it via word of mouth.

Exactly!

Somewhat disappointing?

Depends on your perspective. It's comforting to me for selfish reasons, because I was worried about availability of a second shot after 6-8 weeks. At the same time, I guess it's disappointing to see the outcome of poor media coverage and slow rollout. If you're an investor... yeahhh it's not pretty, but that's nothing new

e: only about 10% of the 3.2M dose shipment has been distributed so far according to the article

Thanks for the article link u/AlmohadaGris! I hate it when mainstream media tries to downplay Novavax…

7300 is a big number, as I look at is as a positive…We got 7300+ more people vaccinated in the USA and the number will keep on growing once the good words get out about Novavax to the unvaccinated population.

For each and every person that gets vaccinated is a victory indeed! One person at a time, we can do it!

I also read VAERS and nothing to note. One semi allergic response given epipen and then fine.

pretty dismal numbers. was hoping at least a million would be given in USA but looks unlikely. and knowing NVAX as a company they will be way behind on the booster stuff too and miss out on those shots.

Will it be approved as a booster tomorrow? Haha. This is like deja vu (Had J&J well over a year ago)
