USA availability updates + novavax finder update

It looks like the CDC added a bunch of locations for novavax last night; we're up to 3,142 total non-CVS locations at the moment (up from 900ish yesterday, if I recall correctly). 65 of these are currently marked as in stock in Delaware, Kansas, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington.

https://novavax-finder.github.io

Showing as in stock on here does not necessarily mean you can walk in and get it immediately. Always call first to confirm availability. Likewise, showing up at all in this list does not necessarily mean it will be stocked. If you find a place close to you, call and ask for confirmation of whether they expect to stock it.

Also, I updated the novavax finder to exclude CVS by default. Since there has been no news of them retracting or clarifying the statement that they have no plans to stock novavax, the data is just noise. You can check the box to include CVS results if you want.

e: I've been thinking about why CVS was added in the first place, even before CDC authorization. It hit me that maybe the devs at CDC added junk data to test some technical updates in preparation for the rollout (I do this often) and never went back to clean it up

I really wish Maryland had it already. It's insane how this rollout is going.

If anyone finds a place in the quad-state area accepting appointments or walk-ins, please update!!! I start RN school late August and I'm supposed to have the series by 8/5.... I feel that if I at least have the first shot, and have proof of when I'm due for the next shot, they'll still let me continue. 🤞🏻

I booked for the 7th in Rhode Island. It's a 5 1/2-hour trip from MD. I'm also shocked by how long it's taking.

That's the area I'm looking in. Especially NoVa. I'm located in WV

Maryland has it. Check Safeway. I just got one scheduled.https://www.mhealthappointments.com/covidappt

Have you checked public health departments in those areas? I know that in Texas, the Austin Public Health Service has Novavax but isn't shown on the CDC list. The pharmacy where we're getting our shots today isn't on their list either.

The CDC list definitely isn't showing all the places that you can get Novavax right now, and it's showing a lot of places (e.g., all the CVS locations) that probably won't ever stock it.

Call and google around. You might be able to find it faster than you think.

Northern VA has it at Safeway. You can book your appointment online.

One other thing to note: I know for a fact at least one pharmacy in Texas not on the CDC's current list has Novavax in stock right at this moment. We're getting ready to leave for our appointments shortly. And I did confirm over the phone with them that they do have Novavax. They got it in on Monday.

So if there isn't anything on the CDC list near you, don't give up. Get to googling. That's how I found the pharmacy I'm going to today.

Yup (and congrats) - I got my appointment by surprise, by calling my city's health dept. It's not listed in the CDC data either

Thank you!! I checked the Safeway one in AZ and was told Safeway/Albertsons has no plans to be offering Novavax.

How annoying, perhaps they haven't updated their staff yet, or maybe CDC is actually indiscriminately adding bad data. Seems like the only somewhat reliable indicator of future/current availability is when a location is marked as in stock

If there are any independent pharmacies listed in your area, check them out. An independent pharmacy might be more likely to order Novavax than one of the big chains.

For sure. Hopefully soon. I don't actually handle any of the data btw, it comes straight from the CDC - this tool just displays relevant info from their data feed and makes it usable for the average person
