I switched from synthroid to armour and for me, within a year, my menstrual cycle came back, I lost 30 pounds and was finally able to get pregnant. It saved me. As well as switching to a doctor that listened to me as well as the lab results.

I take Naturthroid as I was near death's door on levo and other synthetic thr. I'm still fatigued but I've been able to hold down a job and have some semblance of a life since I started taking NDT. I would recommend it.

I wanted to try it, but I’ve been to several doctors and they won’t prescribe it. The potency is all over the place and they keep having recalls here (USA) for potency issues.

I’m SUPER sensitive to small fluctuations, so I may never try it for that reason.

I found some that wouldn't too, but I eventually found someone who would and have been on it 10 years. I have heard it is a myth that the potency is all over the place. It's a standardized drug! They grind up a million pigs thyroids and blend them all into dust and mix it up to make pills and the level averages out!

Hashi's/hypo

I started on levo and almost overdosed on T4 trying to get my numbers in range. I wasn't converting it at ALL. Switched to ndt and felt MILES better. I switched doctors, and the new doc wanted to see how I did on Tirosint (another brand of levo). It was awful. All my symptoms returned with a vengeance.

I'm now back on ndt with a small dose of T3 medicine (liothyronine). Most of the time these days, I am completely symptom free, and I have a high energy, high stress job (high school fine arts teacher).

Overdosed???...

I'm glad you found a good mix for yourself. What is your NDT dose and how often do you take it? Did you ever have loss of libido and did it return with NDT? I'm looking for a solution and feeling hopeless.

Yes but the brands switched around a lot and my body was having a bad reaction and so I went back on just levo and I’m fine.... not worth the headache of constantly trying to track down a pharmacy with the same brand.

I was on NDT and it worked well for years. Mine was recalled a few times so I decided to go back to synthetic T4 (tirosint) and add T3 (cytomel) and now that I’ve figured out the right dose it seems to be working well! Might be an option for you.

Do you take generic cytomel?

doing a bit of research and read "You also should not take DTE if you are a woman of childbearing age." is this accurate?

Recall alert based on the recurring issue that dose regulation is an issue.

Sweden doesn't use it because Sweden is well aware of the recurring issue.

What's your TSH now?

While they may not have dried pig thyroid in Sweden, I'm sure they have T3 which you could add to your T4 medication.

I am taking Levothyroxine only when I go on holiday, and I forget my NDT. It's almost impossible to get NDT in Europe or Asia on short time notice.

Amour thyroid (desiccated thyroid) has worked well for me, I was waiting to seeing my endocrinologist and the young intern walked in and looked at my chart and was all over me trying to get me on Synthroid. He eventually left and the specialist looked at me and I asked if he has any concerns on me being on Amour thyroid (desiccated thyroid) and he said none at all.
