Guitar - gear, reviews, lessons, and discussion for everyone!
PRS SE 245 with Ernie Ball Reg 10's. In between every song its out of tune by 2 or 3 cents (mostly B and G) but it happens to most strings. I use the locking method when stringing by looping under and over while winding. None of my other guitars have this problem. All the tuning screws on the head are tight.
Further, the G and D strings cannot be fully inntonated. Fretted note on 12th is 3 cents sharp, but the sattle is all the way back.
Any ideas on how to fix these problems would be great!!!
[QUESTION] How can I come up with rock riffs/progressions that don’t sound super generic, without going full prog?
Just a little background, I’m a rhythm guitarist, I’ve been playing for over two years now. Not super great but I know my scales, modes (all the basic theory stuff) and have a pretty good sense of rhythm.
I’ve been trying to write original music for a (potential) rock band I’m forming with my friend who plays lead. She’s extremely talented but she says she really struggles with writing music. So it’s up to me to come up with stuff. I’ve experimented with different chord progressions, rhythmic patterns, etc., but everything I come up with ends up sounding like stuff I’ve heard a hundred times before. It doesn’t help that I’m just trying to lay down the rhythm, so of course it sounds very boring without the lead.
Should I be trying to come up with lead riffs myself first or coming up with the rhythm guitar part first? Any tips (technique or theory) for making more interesting sounding stuff that’s still pretty accessible music? Thanks in advance I really appreciate any wisdom.
[Gear] [Question] Just bought this 5 string acoustic bass with an eq-7545 preamp pickup in it. The logo on it is just a cursive/fancy "B" I don't recognize. Looks similar to other brand logos (Like bridgeport or bristol but It's not quite in line with their logo designs.
Not practicing as they should
