Watching out for "large .22 calibre rifles" here in South Australia! If only he had a "small" one, he would've gotten away with it!

Do they mean a large gun, chambered in a 22 caliber projectile?

That is how I read it as well.

eg.

The 33-year-old man is seen firing a large, .22 calibre rifle, across four lanes of traffic at Christies Beach before threatening to turn the weapon on another man.

A simple comma and they could have avoided being posted to this subreddit.

Nah...this is one of those 12 gauge .22s

Not even really that large, the can use almost half the size of the rifle itself

That's definitely what they meant, but the mere presence of the description "large" surely indicates fearmongering clickbait. .22 rifles are mostly always going to be of a "large" size that is unwieldy inside a car.

22 Caliber = around 1ft 10in, so don't forget the sight and the large mag because there would be room!

Yeah they aren’t saying the caliber is large, the weapon was large

Yea but it’s just funny how it’s worded haha. Aussies don’t know the difference either way

I bet there was nuclear fallout from the mushroom cloud of the shot.

Well, there's .22 CB and then there's .22-250, but I doubt these morons know that.

I mean, even 5.56 is a .22 caliber, technically

Just need to inoculate yourself with .17HMR little by little, until you can work up to those .22's... you'll be safe!
