Here to share some of my takeaways in case this helps anyone!

This is completely omitting all that I learned in terms of friendship, connection, identity, etc. I'm just talking about actual what to do vs not to do

  • Supportive sneakers are the only shoe I'll ever wear. I'm talking running shoes with real cushion. I feel like no one is looking at shoe fashion and so there is no point in wearing my kinda cute sneakers instead of my Asics. I want my feet to feel the best they possibly can and cuteness of sneaker doesn't matter at all. This year I'm going to get even cushier running shoes so my feet can be as boosted as possible.

  • You will indeed need a light for the portapotties at night. I overlooked this and just said ehh I could always use my phone as a flashlight. No way. I had to use a little light up ring I was gifted as my portapotty light. Even if I'd had some good glowsticks I would've been fine, but you need something hands-free.

  • Also about the portapotties- having your own toilet paper is a must, especially later in the night when things are running low!

  • It is indeed good to make a plan for when/where to meet up with a friend if/when you get separated. This seems obvious, but the forest is so big that you need to have multiple verbal statements of where and when the meetup would be if you get lost. I enjoy being lost and so I though, eh no need. But ultimately you likely won't want to be separated from the friend you came with for more than 2 hours.

  • Will bring some type of camp shower this year. The shower situation in GA was ridiculously time-consuming for the line. Better off carrying water and rinsing at camp, unfortunately.

  • You don't need to spend money buying face gems and glitter ahead of time. There is a beauty salon in the hangar that has all of that for free!

Feel free to add things you've learned to change about your forest routine.
