[I want out] 18F Caribbean-> USA/Canada

I’m an 18 year old girl from a small Caribbean island. I’ve lived here all my life, and due to some mental health issues and stuff, I want to leave. Not that i’m running away from my problems, but i just don’t want to live in this small place anymore.

My island follows the british education system so:

I graduated high school last year (2021) with 10 CSEC Exam passes (Equivalent to GSEC). Honor roll all 5 years. Good grades.

I started Community college/ Sixth Form last year (2021) and in 2024 I should get an associates degree from the school. By next year I will receive my Unit 1 CAPE Exam results (Equivalent to A Levels [year 1] ). The subjects i’m doing are Chemistry, Physics, Pure Math, and Green Engineering.

I want out of this island by next year (2023), as i do not wish to stay here until 2024.

My plan was to apply to some colleges in Florida that offers instate tuition to LAC (Latin American and Caribbean) students. There are 2 scholarships from my island that i qualify for worth 15k USD in total. I also planned to take the SAT and get a good score so that I could qualify for some additional internal scholarships from the colleges i’m applying to.

My plan was to cover the additional financial burden with loans. Hopefully no more than 20k US over my 4 years of study towards a bachelors degree.

I forgot to mention my preferred major. I’m leaning towards aero engineering or something in chemistry.

I will be working over the christmas vacation, and I also plan to start working part time starting in January 2023.
